VENUSTAS: Beauty
Inspired by the exterior grandeur of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s pocket watches, we aim to recreate this elegance in a 38mm wristwatch. Paying homage to select high-end pocket watches from the 18th and 19th centuries, we have maximized the barrel, gears, and balance wheel within a movement diameter of 32mm. The gears from the second to the fourth wheel are crafted from 18ct rose gold plates, while the ruby bearings are made from highly saturated red materials, reminiscent of the vibrant stones found in 19th-century luxury pocket watches. Designing from scratch and executing advanced engineering were essential to pursue these ideals. NOUVELLE CHRONOMETRIE designs and manufactures nearly all parts of the exterior and the movement. Only the escape wheel, mainspring and hairspring are sourced from existing parts. To achieve our vision of the world’s finest watches, we also collaborate with top external manufacturers for some components:
Dial Mr. J.N.Shapiro https://www.jnshapirowatches.com/
Pinions Mr. Luc Monnet (Arts Mécaniques) http://artsmecaniques.com/en/
Rubies Ogura Jewel Industry Co., Ltd. https://www.ogura-indus.co.jp/
UTILITAS: Utility
We pursue the spirit of observatory chronometers, grounded in the direct guidance and inspiration that some of our core members received from Mr. Shoichiro Komaki through his horological theory salon. Mr. Komaki was
responsible for the development of competition chronometers at Kameido Seikosha in the late 1960s.
The use of large gears and a large balance wheel reflects the characteristics of early 20th-century observatory chronometers, which pursued precision through similarly large-scale components. In keeping with the spirit of these chronometers, we strive for high accuracy by incorporating a large-inertia balance wheel comparable to those found in pocket watches.
FIRMITAS: Strength
NOUVELLE CHRONOMETRIE houses its atelier, where skilled watchmakers use precision machinery to manufacture movement components. The craftsmen involved have experience producing key parts for racing car
engines, bringing their advanced technical skills to our high-precision manufacturing. Subsequently, our experienced watchmakers hand-finiish, adjust, and assemble each watch. Heat treatment and plating are also
conducted in-house.
